How do you connect to the internet, (dial up, cable) and what is your firewall?
If you c&p that url number into your browser (208.43.71.137:80), does the Avast website open?

Was this firewall part of a McAfee suite? If so, there is probably the answer. It will need to be fully uninstalled and a removal tool downloaded and run.

The "black hole" could be a factor. Is your wireless modem encrypted to the current standard? If not, it should be. Info/tutorial. WPA2 is the preferred option.
