Didn't auto update worked for you?
Set it to auto update and see if it updates or not.

BTW why have you posted here in the BETA section?

Try a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select 'avast! Anti-Virus,' click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.

My avast is working properly, Only that though I selected Update autommatically for both program and update in the preferences, I have to right-click on the icon, then click updating->iAVSupdate before I can update. I want avast to update as soon as I put my PC on?
PLEASE HELP ME

Set your connection type into Update (Connections) tab of settings.
Also, do you use any firewall?
Did you try the repair posted by David?
