I had already bought it many years ago but the cd is very old and unreadable.

I have the genuine cd key.

I just need to download it :)

hxxp://www.allbootdisks.com/download/iso.html

Judging from the link, you would need an ISO burner. Google "Free ISO Burner".

I can't be sure that that's the program you'll need for these specific ISO's. It should say more on the site.

Of course, these all look like boot disks... not OS installation CD's.  I haven't downloaded anything to try, but I doubt:

Quote
Windows2000_Professional
Automatic Boot Disk
27/2/07 1 mb
Windows2000_Pro_Disk1.exe
27/2/07 1 mb
Windows2000_Pro_Disk2.exe
27/2/0786 1 kb
Windows2000_Pro_Disk3.exe
27/2/078 67 kb
Windows2000_Pro_Disk4.exe

those will give you an OS image.

You can try torrent sites like Pirate Bay  but you stand the risk of getting do something nasty. The only reason I recommend this is because Win 2000 is no longer supported.

I have a copy of 2k pro, but I don't exactly feel like shipping it to whatever country you're in.

There has to be someone near you that has an old 2k disk lying around.  Have any little computer shops near you?  They might have one.  Ask them to give you a copy, as long as you're using your CD key, I doubt they'll mind.

Well, how illegal is it if he just needs the media, because he's going to use a legit key?

I think MS should have all of their install disks on a FTP site somewhere that everyone could access in case of a broken / lost / damaged disk.  If you don't have a key, it won't work anyway.

Something else I forgot to mention is burn your disk at a slow speed 4X max sometimes there are write errors burning at higher speeds. You will also need software that will burn an ISO to disk.

Yeh Windows hardly care anymore but still aren't going make it easy for users. Ask around or advertise for one no longer being used. once up and running you can talk through loopholes with windows so you can use update service. But okay you have to have to get there first. I have 2000 pro that dont need product key that i give away on rare occasion someone wants it, but unfortunately I wont send copy cross-border. best advice ask around for a good copy.

and I think 2000 still supported.

Edit - havent used for yonks ages but remember as good system - under-rated even
