How to use avast "in silence" ?
« on: June 13, 2004, 07:14:13 PM »
Hi !
I'm a french guy so my english will no be very good...

Avast is a wonderful program but I was checking in the options this morning to change something. I would like to allow Avast to delete all the viruses I recieve in my mailbox without asking me if I want to send it in "Quarantine" or repare the file.
I'm recieving near from 30 infected mails a day and it's very boring to clic "Delete" all the time...
Is there any option to change this ?
Thank you very much !

Your question, Vlk, seems strange to me  ::)
Why do you ask that if the user has the Home (free) version?
Is there any way to automate this action besides the very known one?

Fxmulder, the only way that I know is:
Go to the avast! provider settings (Internet Mail and Standard Shield)
Go to Advanced tab
Choose both: 'Silent mode' and 'No' as the default question
This will send the file to Chest.  8)

Huh, did I? All I asked is what mail program fxmulder was using -- that is, if Outlook or something else...

I think this particular part of the GUI has to be modified, or at least the help file should be more detailed. Because "No" or "Yes" as the default action (answer) doesn't give a clue to know what will happen when a virus is found. More, the message box displayed when a virus is found doesn't even contain the actions "Yes" or "No". So really confusing. That is why i never used this advanced option (but i really love to...)
