just wondering if someone could suggest any good free Video(screen) capturing/recording software,
presently using CamStudio, but I don't like it very much

I use this extension inside Firefox or Flock browser: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006
Later I can play the downloaded vids with VLC Media player,

Wow! Hello Pondus thanks for the list.... very useful 

polonus, I used that extension, but I no longer use firefox .....  :'(
however I'm not looking for something like that, I'm looking for video capturing software.

Meantime another friend has suggested debut, seems it's supports more formats than CamStudio, and I think it's more user-friendly, it doesn't capture layered/translucent windows though, just tried to capture avast window with it.....and it's ended with invisible avast!

 playwin2, I see that you now have more than 20 posts which will permit you to update your profile to include signature information.

Go to PROFILE then Modify Profile then Forum Profile Information then Signature: and put information about your system just like my sigature.

What is wrong with CamStudio? 

well, it's outputs are in pretty low quality....the video, and I find it difficult to use/control, also for each capture I made with it, they all shows mouse-pointer in hourglass mode (very annoying  ).

But I do like the auto-panning feature.

Oh! I didn't knew about that magnifying glass! will be very useful for me as I have poor eyesight.... thank you very much JuninhoSlo. 

now for that divx, well I can already play them, and I can also convert to xvid etc. and all for free, so why buy their soft....
