Outlook XP
« on: June 20, 2003, 07:22:16 PM »
Avast 4 doesn't scan any of my emails - it used to work until about a month ago after a web update.

The plug-in is enabled in outlook and Avast 4 service controller says the outlook scanner is waiting for a subsystem to start

I thought I would give this thread a bump.

I have exactly the same problem. I've reinstalled Avast but still no luck. Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks
Paul

Paul, if you're using Outlook XP, try the following: go to the Help menu in Outlook, select About, and in the About box, click the Disabled Items button. What's in the list - isn't there the avast plugin module (ashOutXt.dll)???

If so, mere removing of this entry from the Disabled Items list should resolve the problem.

Oh I see, you probably really are using Outlook XP, given this thread's title ;D

Damn, I'm good ;D (just kidding).
But this feature of Outlook XP really sux - I mean, sometimes, for no particular reason (mostly after it crashes - but that's not so rare, hehe :)), Outlook decides to 'ban' certain plug-ins and adds them to this Disabled Items list. Pretty weird... :-\

I checked an email I stashed last week - turns out it was the bugbear-b.
