Even though avast! is a winner here i cannot agree with this point:
Update Frequency: While all the antivirus solutions allow for manual updating, 99% of people will not do this. The free solutions we tested updated automatically only once per day. This is one area where free antivirus suites fall behind paid solutions, which update many times a day (sometimes several times per hour). Avira lost one point in this category since its updates took an unusually long time.
All other 3 indeed update only once per 24 hours where avast! updates every 4 hours (plus on every new connection to internet). And it does this out of the box without any hacks or tricks.
Update frequency should be rated from 0-3 where avast! would be the only one with score 3 and AVIRA the only one with score 2 (because they indeed release many updates per day, it's just that program doesn0t check for them). AVG and MSE don't release many updates and they only check only 1x per 24 hours.
