Avast Icon Gone - Win 7
« on: December 30, 2009, 04:04:50 PM »
Minor problem here.  I just installed Windows 7 and Avast Pro (along with Avast WHS on the server).  The Avast icon is missing and was replaced with a generic white icon, weather it's in the Start Menu, desktop shortcut or in the Taskbar.  The 2 in the notification area are there though, however as it did in Vista the VRDB Generator icon in the notification area doesn't spin. Is that normal for Windows 7?

Thanks for any help!
Jamie

Hi jamepc,

Does this thread help:

For the desktop and taskbar icons, you will have to recreate them after sorting the start menu one...

Thanks Scott, that worked and the icon is back.
The icon in the notification area spins only when the computer is booted up for a minute then stops.  I don't remember if this is how it acted in Vista or if it spun all the time, however all sems to be working.
Thanks again,
Jamie

Which icon is it that you mean?

The 'a' one will spin whenever something is being scanned.
The 'i' (VRDB) one will only spin when the vrdb is being generated, which is every 21 days (I think)

The "a" icon.  I wasn't sure it spun all the time in Vista or just when something is being scanned like you just indicated.
Thanks! That clears things up for me and all is working well.
