What I said just now is true

On May 10, 1940, in World War 2, Germany invaded France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxemboug.

On June 10, Italy invaded, declaring war on both France and the United Kingdom; twelve days later France surrendered and was soon divided into German and Italian occupation zones, and an unoccupied rump state under the Vichy Regime

On June 6, 1944 (known as D-Day), the Western Allies mainly the U.S.A invaded northern France and, after reassigning several Allied divisions from Italy, southern France. These landings were successful, and led to the defeat of the German Army units in France. Paris was liberated.

Haven't you hear about D-DAY?

There will be no French today if Germany was still occupying it and unless the U.S.A liberated it.
