Sleeping mode
« on: November 13, 2004, 03:46:02 PM »
 Hello
Ijust got the new version of Avast home 4.5.518, and from this moment I encountered troubles with restarting from the sleeping mode
Is it better to just upgrade from the previous version or is it better to uninstall then start with the new one?
???

It is better to turn the comp off when you go away and not use the suspend mode.

Well, if you want to trouble shoot. You really have to provide more details. Just saying you have troubles is not much to go on. ::)

-What OS?
- What exactly are the problems?
- What is the exact error message?  (if you get any)

Provide things like that.

I run XP SP2, the trouble is, when I restart the computer (either from suspend or reboot) it takes a very long time about 2 or 3 mn to launch XP.
I've  just downloaded the new version directly from the avast site. I removed the previous version, rebooted, then install the new one, rebooted, did my settings then try again to go on suspend mode. them above problem.
In fact it is better now because before the computer would have stay on the black window !

Sorry, what I just wrote is wrong, I still cannot move from the black screen. I only got :
CPU TYPE = Intel(R) Pentium (R) M processor 1.5GHz
CPU SPEED = 1500 MHz
L2 Cache : 2MB Installed

Then nothing

This looks more like a hardware problem. I assume you mean a black screen with the text in white on it. This is the post screen. If it hangs there and you wait long enough, you should get an error message. This can take as long as 30 minutes though. Please let it hang at that screen and see if you get an error message. If so, it will tell you what is wrong.
