I've tried about every tweak I could get my hands on, Fasterfox Lite is really the only one I've noticed a difference with.

use this carefully. it will prefetch the links on your current page.. make sure you don't have any malicious links on the page you are browsing..

That is Fasterfox, the Fasterfox Lite I am speaking of does not have prefetching.

The only other Firefox tweak that I can think of that helps, would be "Vacuum Places Improved". I don't know if anyone else would notice a difference, but I sure do with startup.

I guess that has to do with the sql database optimization?? .. a wild guess..

What helped me also was to cleanse after a particular browser session, using ATF cleaner and clear prog,

Mozilla Cache View by NirSoft will give you a clue as what you store there, I got the link from bob3160 and it is revealing.

I now use the Minefield beta 3.7 with sandboxed tab loading - tab by tab and so you can view those on first load plus that it gives considerable advanced security, the developers copied that feature from Google's Chrome, it also makes the fx browser tougher to get hacked,

It does not matter actually, as long as he is not on IE6 and has fully upgraded and fully patched.
As long as he does not use IE klones like Browzar and the World browser and he uses good hostfile protection and does his surfing with normal user rights (tweakable with Process Explorer by the way) and he has not installed questionable activeX and/or BHO etc. he is allright, if he goes "as by default" pity on him, but that is true for all of MS Windows OS, and I guess he has SpywareBlaster installed...

Hi nmb,

I would like to use Blue E or Chrome only if they had two essential security extensions: NoScript and RequestPolicy. If IE8 or Chrome 4 came with NoScript and RequestPolicy add-ons I felt complete protection and did not want Firefox or Flock anymore. Chrome cannot have NoScript because the developers left out the functionality, well the code is not there, and IE never asked Giorgio Maone to build that for their browser.
Well a good ad blocker is also an option, also security wise, but you can imagine that certain tracking parties do not like NS or ABP to come to a browser near them, they rather sell your clickstreams (so do not forget to flush your Super cookies, I mean Flash cookies). Look with ghostery on Firefox what they track you for (some sites has a dozen of them),
