Please help!
« on: December 27, 2009, 04:07:09 AM »
Hello,

Can anybody please tell me how to permanently format text in a table of contents?

A heading I have is particularly long and in the table of contents it spills over onto 2 lines.

It looks like this

1.2 New types of organisms in the centre of the
  sample...........................................................20

What I would like to do is format it so it looks like this:

1.2 New types of organisms in the centre of the
       sample......................................................20

But everytime I press the space bar in the table of contents and then click on 'update table' it automatically goes back to the first variation.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Newbie

PS: Running Word XP on Windows XP.

How to create a bulleted or numbered list in Word

I guess it does not apply to Table of Contents though.

Hi Avastfan1,

Does this help?

In word 2007 is it a lot easier to do a TOC...
