Avast 4 Tries to connect to internet after bootup

After every bootup, Avast 4 tries to connect to the web via my dialup connection. If I switch off avast entirely, the system doesnt try. The PC is running 98SE.

Its rather annoying when you switch the PC on only to write a letter and then find it is trying to dial in.

I have tried setting the updates to manual for both program and virus's but this doesnt help.

Please can you help.

What version of avast! 4 do you have? There was one (on the beginning of this year) which caused this problem of some Win9x machines. Please try to update to the latest version (168) - you can use the incremental update which is built-in in avast! 4...
