Avast 4.8 home which appears to run fine (as it has 64 bit compatibility and components as far as i have read) is installed and works fine. Of course a new i5 and a heap of memory is a joy as well. However there is a constant warning message showing in the security panel advisory for windows 7 telling me to turn on AV. when i then try to do this with this panel it shows and error (picture attatched) and its a little concerning. I can turn the resident off and then on again and as far as the Avast status panel it all appears ok. I have removed/reinstalled with same result.
Any thing else to be done?

Ok rash move but i uninstalled 4 and have tried 5 beta 366 and no messages. It also has a nicer GUI. So will give that a try and see how it goes. thanks.
