How to uninstall 4.0 when no uninstall exists

How do you "uninstall" 4?  I cannot do it via control panel, nor can I delete individual components.  Disk full notice is given.  I feel that unless I can completely delete 4, I'll not get 5 installed.  Open for suggestions.

Use the uninstall utility  http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
