Hi, not meaning to more off topic but it may be of interest to some. :)
Regarding the last several posts about privatefirewall having issues with avast updater, I submitted a support ticket with them.
This is the reply I got.

Hello Tim –

We’ve been able to reproduce this issue. It will be assigned to a developer in the coming days for investigation and hopefully a relatively quick resolution.

I will keep you posted on progress and the availability of an updated build.

Best regards,

Greg

I've temporarily switched to ZoneAlarm till the availability of an updated build with the fix.

Is anyone running this combination on Win7 32 bit?  I've already tried Online Armour and wasn't that impressed.

All recommendations appreciated.

Thanks

This is a great combination.  PCTools makes a great firewall, I have used it before, and it scores well in matousec's firewall challenge test, and is one of a handful of very good firewalls for windows 7.  If you are looking for a free option for win7 32 bit, your best bets are online armor (which I understand isn't for you), Comodo and PCTools.  Agnitum made a great free firewall, outpost free, available at: http://free.agnitum.com/ , but it is not supported for win7.
