That is a good question. It sure would be nice to be able to return each scan type back to defaults independently (AKA WEB shield, Mail shield etc.) plus a global reset. I think the only way to get back to defaults would be a repair install or maybe a complete uninstall then install? Its also too bad each setting does not show what the default is.

This wasn't on 4.8 and rumoured it was going to be on 5.0, but I see no sign of it.

Which is why I tend to leave settings alone in new programs, other than those that I know what the impact of the tweak might be.

Presumably in wanting to set it back to defaults you are getting some unwanted effects.
If so what are they and we can see if we can figure out which area it may be ?

I somehow doubt a repair would do that, as it is more of an integrity check of the program and not your personal settings.

Restore Default settings feature will most probably be available in avast! 5.1 that will arrive in the upcoming month(s).

I'm not having any problems but as you say you are not playing around with settings because there is no way back at this point. Same here!

That's not entirely accurate. If you keep a log of what the default was for
a setting before you changed it, you can always revert to the original by
manually changing it back. Inconvenient, but certainly possible. I always
take this approach when changing BIOS settings as well - and have a hard
copy handy, not just a machine-readable file.

Of course, uninstalling and reinstalling is a sure-fire way to make a global reset.
