VPS update not changed ?
« on: June 23, 2004, 11:21:57 AM »
After the last updating VPS (from 425-1 to 426-0)
the indication in the principal window of Avast4 Professional (Trial) has been unchanged:
actual version file virus: 425-1  17/06/2004
Because?
If I manually adjourn it tells me that is already adjourned.
Thank you.

The persists even if you restart the program?

Yes.
For other motives I have touched the register of system(REGEDIT).
I have returned in a preceding situation. Can this operation influence?
If we wait for next updating and we see what happens ?

What if you restart the machine -- still the same?

Vlk, I just checked on my fasther's PC in Croatia (I connect to his computer almost every single day just to take care of his computer through PC-Anywhere or UltraVNC sometimes). Few weeks ago I installed avast! Home Edition on his computer. Everything works just great, I also enabled Automatic updates for virus database as well as for program updates...

Yesterday I've noticed that in his "about avast!..." window, it's still showing Build: Jun2004 (4.1.416) instead of 418 (see attachment)... why is that ? If I try to manualy invoke program update, it says:

Program already up to date
(Current version: 4.1.418)

If I restart his system, same thing again... it looks like he has 418, but it's not showing in "about avast!..." window...

Btw, he use Windows 98 Second Edition on his system.

I'm using Win XP Home Edition and everything is just great here. No problems with that issue.

Thanks in advance my friend !

Marco, what is the file size of the file <avast>\data\400.vps?

Sasha, that's normal. 416 and 418 are identical for English language versions.

He is so into avast! now, you wouldn't believe it. He wants everything to be just right... oh, he will be so happy when I tell him.

Marco, hmm, that's really the older version. Does the <avast>\setup folder contain the files called vps-42600.vpu and vpsm-42600.vpu?

OK, what you may try (possibly the last thing) is to

1. delete these two files.

2. open the file <avast>\setup\setup.ini in Notepad, and in the [Parts] section, change the entry that reads

part.vps=vps-42600

to

part.vps=vps-42501

3. run the VPS update again.

Thanks

Very well.
This has worked.

I have cancelled the files and I have changed two lines of the file .ini:
........
part.program=prg_av_pro-1a2
part.vps=vps-42600-------------to-----------------> vps-42501
part.news=news-40
part.setup=setup_av_pro-1a2
[PartsLatest]
part.program=prg_av_pro-1a2
part.vps=vps-42600----------------to---------------> vps-42501
part.news=news-40
part.setup=setup_av_pro-1a2 ............

After having adjourned the indication it is correct.
Thank you  :)
