Im on Windows Vista Familial version 32
I'm on 5.0.393 Free AV.

I restarted the shields 10 min ago and as of now no freeze or BSOD.

Oh and i am runing a full scan right now too.

After installing this version of avast! 5 over the current one available my computer froze upon restart. Windows XP Pro SP 3 // avast! 5.0.393. Had to uninstall in safe mode and reinstall the previous version.

Installing the 393 version over the old 377 version seems to cause to much trouble. I would recommend an install from scratch

Has anyone tested if the registration window on build 393 is still to large for small resolutions and doesn't provide scrollbars if needed?

I went back from 5 to 4.8 because of freezing issues.  With this build will I have to do a clean install as well?  I really really hope this fixes the freezing problems.  I am so tired of the popup about 5 that I want to puke.

I installed v. 5.0.393 from scratch on my vista machine. So far no BOSD or freezing.

I just downloaded version 5.0.377 and now it says my license is invalid and it cannot install the demo license either. But it said on the bottom of the page my license was transferred sucessfully. What should I do?

Have you tried a reboot?  That should fix it (well, did for me in a similar circumstance).

Just tried the new beta over 4.8 Pro and my results were identical to Blood's. The PC froze up and refused to finish booting into regular Windows. This PC is a Dell Dimension E521 running XP Pro SP3. I booted into Safe Mode, uninstalled version 5 and then reinstalled 4.8 Pro.

I tried a few days ago to install the original release version 5 and had a different result. It that case, the installation would never finish and froze on one on the last installation screens. So while there are clearly differences with the new build, it apparently still has issues...

I think I am giving a 3-4 week wait on any of these update builds even after final release.  They seem to be causing more trouble than fixing the problems.
