Message Tack

Been looking for info about the tack on the messages,
(next to the x) but can't find any. Anyone know what its for...........

My guess is that it pins (or tacks) the pop-up to the screen and doesn't disappear after the default time period (10 seconds I believe). So whilst preparing this response I recalled the last pop-up message and pinned it.

Now I have captured the image all the time whilst it is still pinned to the desktop rather than disappearing.
