A question about a log file
« on: January 28, 2010, 07:22:38 PM »
Been using 377 for a week now.  Installed it over 4 with no
problems (so far).  No crashes when running MBAM complete scan.
The question is .. I've been looking at all the files in my C drive
having to do with Avast.  In the log folder, I came across a file
called Logging .log.  All the other log folders look pretty normal, but this
one keeps recording "opening fw.db failed: 110."  First, what is FW.db?
Does it mean I didn't turn on a certain part or shield in Avast?

By the way, I've also seen "Fortinet" mentioned a lot in the forum.  Just
what is fortinet, and does it have anything to do with FW?

I'm just taking a stab at this, but fw.db sounds like it would be the firewall database file.  As the free version doesn't include a firewall, I can only assume that the fw.db file would be created and accessed with the AIS product.

Why it would keep looking for the file when that part of the program isn't installed though, I have no clue.

Thanks scythe944, sounds logical.  Any ideas on the fortinet thingy?

Fortinet is a network security company.  They provide hardware and software firewalls (among other things), so yes, it does have something to do with a firewall. http://www.fortinet.com/

Ah, I got it.  I'm using ZoneAlarm, so I shouldn't be concerned
with that.  Thanks again.  I'll just keep watching out for any
other responses to the fw log question.
