How to repair file using Virus Recovery Database?

I've lost very important file and I need get it back. The only place in computer memory where it could be, is Virus Recovery Database. Is it possible to recover file form VRDB even if it is not infected by virus?

I have Avast! Home Edition 4.1.418

Only a very small part of the file is stored inside the VRDB (and it must be an executable file, otherwise it's not stored at all). So, it's not possible to recover deleted (or what "lost" means) files using VRDB.

Can I ask what you mean by "lost"?

Did you Delete the file?  

Why did you say "the only place" the file could be in the computer is the VRDB?

if you DELETED e.g. a WORD/OFFICE-Dokument infected with a macro-virus instead of REPAIRING = disinfecting it:
-> try some file recovery tools like
RESTORATION
or
PC Inspector

-> links via board-search here, or GOOGLE
or of course, read here:

 under "File Recovery & Management Tools"


Important is NOT to work/browse on the PC meanwhile, and to start the recovery tool
- from a floppy disk
- or a 2nd harddisk partition, NOT the drive/partition the file was deleted from
So best download any Tools from a friends PC (which should be virus-free, of course )

what Windows-Version do you have ?
What name did avast give the virus (e.g. like: "Win32:Netsky-P [Wrm]" )  ?

Where exactly was the infected File found (full path/folder/filename, e.g. like c:\Windows\system32\virusfile.exe) ?
