$.99 avast! Pro?
« on: January 31, 2010, 08:11:56 PM »
WinPatrol just had a 24 hr sale of Winpatrol Plus for $.99 that was a big success.

With there being 100,000,000 users of avast!, most of them using avast! Free, if ALWIL would have a $.99 24hour sale of avast! Pro (one year subscription, avast! Free users only) and say 50 million or so avast! Free users responded, ALWIL would reap about $50 million.

Sounds like a good deal for ALWIL. ;)

OH YEAH that would go over real well with all the stock holders of Alwil, losing a possible 390,000,000. sounds like a very sound financial plan. hmm i think the US GOVT. just maybe interested in hiring you for head of the FED. ;D

@ rdmaloyjr

Your idea is great but I don't think this can be applicable with Avast because Avast is more popular than WinPatrol and the cost and effort put to develop Avast is very greater than WinPatrol

WinPatrol is a one man business

You're right.

I just thought it would be a good promotion.  Many software companies have promotions of free one year subscriptions.  I don't need to say those free one year subscription don't reap money other than if someone likes the software enough to buy subscriptions for the following years. ;)

@  Chris Thomas

I wonder if avast! is more popular than WinPatrol as it has been available at least as long as Malwarebytes if not longer and many of its users do not use avast! and probably still use Norton or McAfee or AVG and even ClamWin  ::)

@ rdmaloyjr

WinPatrol PLUS is a one time charge just like Malwarebytes but the lucky ones got it at a bargain price.

I somehow doubt that will happen, you say what happened with the  $0.99 winpatrol plus offer, totally swamped their system.

Even though Alwil has a much larger server base, etc. the offer would spread like wildfire and cost a lot in lost revenue. Whilst that would possibly lead to renewals at the end of the year it is a big gamble.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Anyway I don't think that the useres who actually have bought the product for the normal\non-discounted price would be too happy about that...

I bought WinPatrol for the regular price a long time ago and simply bought a second $0.99 one to give away as a gift.  I wasn't mad because of the offer.  :)
