Win95:Matyas
« on: June 25, 2004, 11:47:04 PM »
I have jut done a scan with avast and came accross "Win95:Matyas" and i choose to repair it, it was unable to  repair it so i found out its location from the log viewer, when i scaned the file itself the virus was still there so i choose to move it to chest and when i looked in the virus chest and it wasn't there, so i scaned again and choose to deleat it which it said it couldnt do, so in the end i just deleated it normaly and it seems to of gone.
The log viewer said "25/06/04 22:31:01   microsoft   4293062995 Sign of "Win95:Matyas" has been found in "C:\WINDOWS\pav.zip\PAV.SIG" file. ", was i doing something wrong or was this just a error?

Hi  lee,

A  search on these forums for Win95:Matyas would return 43 hits. This is where you should start first and if you have a problem get back to us.

This is almost certainly a false positive because panda anti virus online scanner dumps unencrypted virus recognition patterns on your HDD and these are found by competent antivirus programs.

This should be of help in the future.

Pav.sig is the signature file from Panda Antivirus.
Do you have Panda installed?

Also have a look at this:

That's the culprit, empty that file pav.zip\PAV.SIG and you should be ok.
