Installed successfully and rebooted ok.

Can't test the manual update freeze problem yet as it never freezes when the virus definitions and programme are up-to-date.

Will have to wait until tomorrow when a new virus definition file update is available.

Flawless! I installed over the top of .396 and I even installed the behavior shield just for kicks... ;D  (x64 win 7)

About the MBAM issue, it seems alot better if IP Protection is disabled on Malwarebytes. For me, my system still feels too heavy running both Avast! and MBAM at the same time. I don't think it's got anything to do with Avast! though, probably any AV+another resident scanner is too much to expect top performance.

ArtemisFOwl, could you see if the procedure MBAM developed for MSE referenced at http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=55210.msg467962#msg467962 helps?

Man you guys are right on time! Been fixing an HP printer program that shut down .396 where it wouldn't "fix" or "Repair" ot 'change" and restart the engine. Started to remove it when I saw Vik's update. So I ran .415 over top of .396 broken and it Worked!!!!

Installed 5.0.415 over existing 5.0.396. No problems experienced so far, but then I only have the free (on demand) version of Malwarebyes.

Vlk - Have you done your blog on the behaviour shield yet, and if so how do I find it?

Seems okay! Adding MBAM to the exclusions in Avast! was slightly different, because i couldn't seem to add a single file as was outlined in the guide. Instead , I had to add the folder path          Program Files(x86)>Malwarebytes'-AntiMalware

I did that in the main settings and file system shield, reboot. MBAM service starts after about 2 minutes or so, because it sets itself to Automatic(delay start)

Everything seems certainly better, but browsing to a large folder there is some noticeable slowdown. As far as the way my system "feels", it is not as heavy as before which means that it helps. The difference is noticeable in my opinion, I can live with it ;)

Installed 5.0.415 over 5.0.396 with no problems, quick scan in malwarebytes took 14 minutes to acomplish, in 5.0.396 took about 18 minutes, malwarebytes stills freezes a little bit when scanning and I wonder Why in 4.8 took only 8 or 9 minutes to finish if I still have the same files in my PC... I use Malwarebytes ondemand scanner no the pro version.

First attempt to correct the problems is good, it can get a little better!...rm

I had previously disabled MBAM real-time.
Am presently using PrevX. (and PrivateFirewall 7.0.20.36)
I also disabled AVAST 5.0.0.396 (free) file agent. (the only agent I had installed anyway)
Installed build 415 on top and rebooted.
When I right-clicked on the AVAST tray icon and chose to reenable the file agent, it froze...
Mouse was moving, but evertything else was frozen, PC irresponsive.
I'm presently uploading the memory dump, named "FBlais.7z" this time.
Upon reboot, AVAST is running so far...

I will test it doing an upgrade from 4.8, and i will post the results, because as i see, installing it over 5.0.396 doesn't have issues (so far) so i need to check if i can upgrade from 4.8 to this version. And Thankz for this pre-release build. You guys at alwill team do a great job.

i bought three 3 pc lic keys for 2 years each i applied this update to one of my systems and it says invalid product key now. is this due to it being a pre release or is there something really wrong with my key. i have not updated the rest of them and they say they are fine still. thanks

Looking forward to reading how it goes for you, and anyone else who goes from 4.8 to 5.0 over the top without uninstalling 4.8.  ;)

I'm not too sure about it. It's a typical "two AV's running at the same time" type of conflict. Windows was simply not designed to handle that.
I'm puzzled by this statement, since MBAM worked very well with Avast 4.8.  It also works well with McAfee Enterprise 8.7, once you put a few simple exclusions into McAfee.  It also works well with Microsoft Security Essentials.  I know because I have MBAM with real-time protection on my WinXP Pro desktop that uses McAfee, and my Win 7 netbook that used to run Avast but which now runs MSE because I had serious problems when I moved to Avast 5.
