avast / vuze
« on: January 23, 2010, 12:04:31 AM »
Avast 5 detected a secure connection from my mail program (azureus.exe) to a mapi server 86.50.89.16. (yok.fi).

Not sure what I should do about this pop up.  Vuze is a bit torrent client.

Should I be concerned?

Is it a popup saying you have an unprotected SSL mail account ?

can you post a screenshot ?

Yes, something like that.  Sorry I don't have a screen shot of it.

It means that avast cant scan the mail account because it is sett to SSL and probably port 465/995
If you open the setting for the mail account in you mail program and remove SSL and sett ports to 25/110
Try this if you want avast to scan the mail account, if not you can disable the warning in avast, don`t remember where, guessing it must be somewhere in the mail shield settings.......i am not on my avast pc now

Hi.

I got the same message today. I have used the 4.8 or something earlier, but upgraded to 5 yeasterday. Today it found this. The problem is that Azureus is a bittorrent client, and as far as I know there shouldnt be any mail communication in this. Cant find any settings for this...

Frode.

you can prevent Avast mail scanner from detecting new ssl accounts and warning about them, see the ssl tab in the mail scanner advanced options, at the bottom of the panel. So, once you know that actual email accounts have been detected, just deactivate that for the rest, like Vuze or else.
