Your computer must be restarted
« on: February 14, 2010, 12:49:26 AM »
I'm using Avast version 5.

After a routine program update it says "In order to complete your installation of avast! antivirus, your computer must be restarted".

Am I still fully protected (albeit without the latest improvements) if I continue working without rebooting?

Many thanks.

I would say yes, i would think it was very strange if not
same thing happens wen you have windows update and it says you have to restart for the new features to take effect, so untill you do i will imagine it works as it did

You don't have to reboot immediately and I usually don't, I finish what I'm doing at the time, browsing, etc. and then reboot. However, I wouldn't put off that reboot for hours or even longer.

On my XP Pro system I use WhyReboot

It does not work on Vista nor Windows 7 though.  :(

I prefer to reboot as soon as possible thhough.

Ok thanks folks. That puts my mind at rest.

One day they'll be an operating system that doesn't require endless reboots!
