« on: February 14, 2010, 02:10:33 AM »
This is while broswing an such, clicked back and took a screenshot and the firewall is flatlined, as if Im not even connected.

Yup, even checked as I got this post ready.

EDIT:  BTW...web shield and such show activity...

Disabled my network connection, manually stopped FW via button, restarted FW (it took three times of clicking "START" button to get 'RUNNING' as status.  re-enabled network connection.  FW is showing acivity now.

Will post if this happens again.

Are there any logs I should send if it occurs again?

There is also a blank run on the statistics page for these events... ???

Again...
I have a series of screen shots in order to present this entire situation...Im sorry but unless Im understanding what a firewall should monitor, or at least report activity of.

So my activity meter in my FW keeps goin flatline.  When I try to stop/restart the firewall, it takes three times of pressing the 'START' button to get the status message 'RUNNING'.

Is this over chossing 'stop permantly'? Or maybe trying to restart the service with my 'Network Connection' closeed?

Additionally, should I not show activity on the FW meter when loading pages such as Hulu or other non-https: connections?  As I know the webshield cant really effectively scan https, I am assuming the FW wont report its activity as well...or am I completly broken and need to reinstall/repair Avast?

getting it going again...
there is my first try screen shot which I did not include.  It looks just like the 2nd restart attempt screen shot.

EDIT:  This time the 'statistics' page shows ZERO FW actiivity...last time I had this issue it was not the case.

The 'Statisitics' page shows I went dead at about 3pm yesterday, but as many of us know from my posts...this is not correct...

Even right now ZERO activity...

This time it took COMPLETLY restareting my modem, router, etc. to FINALLY get things registering...  :o

I could also be experienceing problems from the neighboring electronic repair center being VERY stray with their wireless testing...ie.  my BT is questionable at best from the time they show up to a lil after they go home...I know thats COMPLELY OFF TOPIC, but its symptomatic at this point  :-X

Same problem happens to me.

ALWIL Tech support did not provide me any real attempt to solve this problem.

I dont think they are ignoring it, I just think it might be a mystery to them as well, being its so random and doesnt occur all the time  ???

EDIT:  Has NOTHING to do with https:, now that Iv got it restarted; I show ALL network acticty across the FW monitor.

I dont use Chrome, nor IE 8(still waiting for them to get -nomerge worked out correctly).  Still a fan of 7, and how can the opensource ones really claim anytype of security?  Not that IE is any more bulletproof than the next, I just like it doesnt conflict with some browser INJECTED into my OS  8)

So its not a browser sprecific issue.

Heres the really fun part, my "Web Shield" statistics page shows that their was definite web traffic the entire time I was online this morning updating this thread.

Alwil, is this just a glitch in the FW GUI's ( ??? ) or is it actually not monitoring things ???

EDIT:  Updated screen shot of Firewall Stats showing ZERO activity while web shield shows something occuring at 6pm and 7-8:30 am, yet the FW is flat line ???

I dont know about the first time it happened, but this time I had just 'woken' my machine up, if that might have anything to do with it not showing activivty when plenty was occuring.

...theres no logs or anything I can upload?

..are we just missing something here?

..this is odd, correct Alwil?

..a response...?

...bump...

Interesting...and they say they havnt taken anything personal, eh?

Thats because most people dont lok at that screen past setup.  Id bet there are plenty of users.  Email VLK directly.  You can get his email from his profile.  Point them at this thread...I dont know what is happening inside Alwil right now, but it really seems some of these 'nerds' need to get off the tilting chair and live a bit before trying to communicate with us people in the actual real world.  Thats all off topic and ranted frustration from someone SICK of the forums and their actual REAL functionality into serving a business.  Think this is bad...try the PSN forums...at least Alwil stillruns theirs so they can have a half a hold on what the average consumer is saying.

The average consumer doesnt call in anymore...we end up here at these forums to be picked apart on the baisis of one word vs the entire context...see there I go again.  I blame FORUM MODERATORS EVERYWHERE.

Its like someone told them their job description was God.

But buack to the main point:

Can Vlk, or any other Alwil member show they actually read this and see from my screen shots ITS A BUG.
