Avast in Safe Mode
« on: February 18, 2010, 01:58:10 PM »
HI,

I've recently updated my Avast Free to the version 5.0.418. It works fine in the normal mode.

When I launch it in Safe Mode, it shows an urgent message that my computer is not secured and click on the Fix Now button. Doing so, it doesn't carry any action. Under it, there is one more button to start the programme. Even pressing this button doesn't do anything.

Could you please tell me what's wrong with it and how to fix it?

Thanks.

My OS: Windows XP Family

avast can't work in Safe Mode as the service can't be run there.
Why do you need to run it in Safe Mode?

Thanks Tech for the reply.

I thought the scan is more reliable if it is done in Safe Mode as it is often suggested by experts.

Just that other antivirus don't offer the boot time scanning. This is a exclusive feature of avast ;)
