Avast Internet Security Problem
« on: February 20, 2010, 11:49:42 AM »
Hi,

I decided to take Avast up on their discount offer on Avast 5 Internet Security program. I have been using Avast free for years with no problems.
Real Time Shields - Antispam=OFF & Mail Shield =OFF.
If I click on "Turn on" or "FIX NOW" nothing happens.
I am running Windows 7.

Cheers

What is the mailclient you are using? Outlook, Thunderbird, Windows Mail...?

Any other antivirus before avast? (specially AVG)
The antispam module works only into MS Outlook as far I know (I'm not sure).

Antispam works good with Windows Live Mail ("itself hosted" on my pc). I put a condition that, if the title have the word ***SPAM***, e-mail application move spam to the spam folder.

The next try would be a repair installation...

I have been using Avast for years so no other anti-virus.

Glad it works for you but that doesn't really help me.

Repair installation was one of the first things I tried.

Having used Avast Free & Pro for years without ANY problems & then seeing the amount of people having the problems with the new version makes me think it needed more testing.

I have had to switch to another anti-virus program until this is resolved.

There are many people using avast! with Windows Live Mail without problems however it does require correct settings in both avast! and Windows Live Mail.

I do not have Mail Shield installed as it interferes with my ISP POP3 SSL transfer for Windows Live Mail for me.
