Avast 5.0 boggy
« on: February 23, 2010, 04:31:17 PM »
Guys please fix the slowness I'm getting from version 5.0 . I been using Avast free for at least 6 years . I really don't want to use Avg but for now I have no choice .

Avast anti-virus free 5.0 with IE 8 on Vista sp2 and XP Pro sp3 ... Both system clean of any malware or what not .

Can you explain the problem in more detail as you don't give us much to work with, thanks.

e.g. what is it that you are doing that is slow.

Did you install 5.0 over 4.8 ?
What other security software do you have installed ?

I'm on XP Pro SP3 and no such issues.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

I am also on XP SP3 and like David, I have experienced no slow down with avast 5. In fact, my computer seems to be working better than it did with 4.8 of avast.

As David asked, please provide us with more information.

I just tried to purchase avast 5.0 through digital river,  was charged on my card, but no luck with the license key. I cannot get any response from Avast or Digital River. Does anyone know a phone number for digital river ?

Your post is totally irrelevant to the problem of the OP.  :P

However, did you check this page?

I didn't do upgrade from 4.8 to 5.0 . I uninstalled 4.8 before install 5.0 with a restart in between . I'm not doing to much beside surfing on the net . I'm only using your software or I was at the time . I have a router which has a firewall , thats it . Though 5.0 was working good at the begin . I would guess maybe a week or 2 later it started slowing my system down . I even try to uninstall , reinstall , same problems still . Like I said earlier I been using Avast for a good 6 years and never once any problems before . I really don't like Avg , Microsoft or Avira but at the moment Avg working pretty good now on my comp .
