viruses found but can't clean files?

Hi,
I recommended avast to my ex-wife. She sent me the following IM.

 i d/l that avast you recommended and it seems to work great it found 4 virus's in my files but for some reason the cleaner won't clean the virus's out so i put those files in the chest and now i am at a loss? can u help or are u busy?

I don't know what files these were (still waiting for a reply to my question). Is there a reason avast couldn't clean the files? And how does she send the files to avast to check out?

I'm afraid it will need some more detailed explanation of the problem.
Does "the cleaner" refer to avast! Virus Cleaner? It cleans only a very limited number of viruses (besides, it doesn't scan archives). However, if the files are in the Chest, she should be safe.

Sorry igor, she hasn't responded to my question yet. I think she is refuring to the regular a-v program. I don't think the files are anything important since her system was still working ok after the scan. I know she's safe. Just wonder why avast couldn't clean the files. You probably need the names of the files. I have no idea what they are. If she can tell me I'll post again.
