repairing infected files

what is the best -free- AV regarding repairing infected files?
the only test I can find is this one:
http://agn-www.informatik.uni-hamburg.de/vtc/ART2000B/art2000b.htm which is 4 years old. Are there any newer tests?

mina, four years old?
Wouldn't avast Cleaner (or McAfee Stinger 2.2.8 - http://download.nai.com/products/mcafee-avert/stinger.exe) better than it?
