I hope that the scan speed gets juiced up a bit the full scan seems to lose steam as it goes along.

Hi,
On 4.8 on a full scan,it took about 15 mins. Now,using Avast5,it takes 40 to 45 mins.Nothing has been downloaded,in fact,I've taken a lot of photos off computer recently,so why the giant increase in full scan?

In v4.8 was the "full scan" done archive unpacking enabled or disabled? The Full Scan in v5 has archive unpacking enabled (you may disable it in the scan's settings).

3:29? That sounds little too fast to believe... although most of the contents of the hard drive might have been already cached in memory from the previous scans.
How much data is there on the HD?

Thanks
Vlk

well it worked vlk, scans with Avast Internet Security were before your suggestion to disable archive unpacking were averaging 35-39 minutes on the average. Now with Avast Internet Security on Steroids its down to an incredible 6 miniutes and 44 seconds on amount of data tested of 24.61 MB  ZOOM......ZOOM
