Avast 5.0.418 very slow web surfing [FIXED]

Hi there,

i was using Avast free 4.8 and all was correct,
but now i have installed avast free 5.0.418 i just can't surf on the web normally,
it's incredibly Slowwww,
if i stop web service all is correct again, but i need a web surfing protection.

I'm using a P4@3.06Mhz with HT activated and 1GB memory,
2 X 120 GB HD plus one 500GB HD
under Win XP Pro SP3

My PC is clean and no bullshit is running while testing web surfing,
I use IE8 and even using one Tab only to surf it's just unusable with avast web service activated

Avast 5.0 is using less memory than 4.8 but processor use is dramatically increased,
and it locks web pages until it has fully verified if it's ok.

It's unusable as it is configured, so my questions are :
- can i download the 4.8 version to return to normal ?
- is there a link to download the free avast 4.8 ?, i can't find one !
- what can i disable on the V5.0 to be able to surf the web and stay protected as the V4.8 which was enough protection for me ?
- is it a bug ?

i'm a programmer, i need my processor time to work, not to make run an antivirus or an OS (that's why i'm on XP and not Vista or Seven)

When you uninstalled avast 4.8 you didn't uninstalled it cleanly what I would recommend you is:
1.Remove the avast 5.0
2.download aswClear.exe and aswClear5.exe
The link to download these two:
http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility
3.Go to safe mode
4.Run these two tools and remove the system properly from all avast which was present in the computer
5.Redownload avast 5.0 and reinstall it everything should be fine

Note:avast 5 should be working lighter than avast 4.8 normally and also faster

Thank you, it's fixed now 
It looks like it's faster than V4.8 too

In fact i did not uninstall V4.8 before installing V5.0,
When installing the V5.0 it has uninstalled the V4.8 automatically.
I was pretty sure it was the way to go...thinking the V5.0 will perfectly overwrite the previous version.

Anyway all is working fast now, i'm returning to my Borland IDE...coding coding
