New build of avast (5.0.462) now officially released
« on: March 09, 2010, 01:49:13 PM »
Hi,

it's my pleasure to announce the general availability of a new avast 5 program update. The build number is 5.0.462.

Here's an (incomplete) change log:

- important fixes related to the installation of the firewall under 64-bit Windows
- fixed a potential memory leak in the firewall
- Vista/W7: solved a compatibility problem with System Restore
- added access keys – the program can be easily now controlled via keyboard
- solved a problem with the “I only connect to the Internet using a dial up modem” update setting
- fixed multiple issues in the sandbox (plus a few performance improvements)
- this new version is now able to communicate with avast! WHS Edition
- fixed a bug related to the inserting of license files into the program
- fixed a problem in the Outlook plugin related to inserting of notes into HTML emails
- solved a compatibility problem with SmithMicro Poser 8 and similar applications
- improvements in the submission system
- improvements in the Free AV registration system
- better handling of errors in case of real-time shield actions
- improved compatibility with Apple BootCamp
- improved default firewall rules
- low priority scans now use much less CPU (but run accordingly longer)
- components of the avast setup/update process are now digitally signed
- minor improvements in the GUI
- new language packs: Greek, Slovak and Ukrainian. This makes the current number of supported languages 19.

Thanks
Vlk

no problem to upgrade here directly from avastui, but the file offered for a full install is still 418 (redirected from avast on CNet)

My package is broken too, trying to update from 460.  Can't update the virus definitions either.  Pro version.  Server overload or ???

No problems updating here, but I may have been coming for the version prior to 460.

Did someone say 'package broken'?

Is there an English/multi non-CNet download?

I'm still using Avast 5.0.418, and have Avast set to ask when program updates are available.  Avast does know that there is a program update available as there is a button to update  the program on the Summary page.  I'm waiting to see if the notification alert popup window shows.  If for some reason the popup is missed, will it reoccur and at what intervals?

my version 460 pro knows there are virus and program updates available; it just won't download them with the package broken.

this version correct problem with Windows 7 and utorrent ?
after 1-2days Windows can't respond... impossible to open file, launch software, shutdown windows...
I think problem appear after few hours, windows update can't download update!!

problem present in previous beta, with only files shield installed.
