Avast 5 block Windows update after few day without reboot !
I Can view that more update is available, but can't see detail, list is empty; OR can't download update, windows update not respond and after 10minutes display error..  It's not internet problem, or windows problem, with same connection can update other computer..
And now without AVAST, it's work perfectly, after 15 days without AVAST none problem.
Utorrent can see the problem more quickly, but even in normal use AVAST (4.6 or 5) blocks the system after several days.

Attention to those wishing to avast on a Web server!

FYI, I had a Microsoft update this morning with no problem. The only thing I notice is that you haven't booted up in 3 days, and I shut down every night.

I had the windows update notification two days ago and the download worked fine, so no blocking here either.

Perhaps Im missing something...

I'm on Avast 4.8 Pro

I never got any alert for the v5 build yet (through my auto update feature). When I went to do an update through the engine (via system tray) It said everything was up to date, no information about an upgrade to v5.

Is this something that is done separately?

My license will expire on april 5, is it possible that is why I am not allowed to upgrade?

how much maximum time before restarting the computer with Avast5 and Windows 7 64bit?
and test utorrent, share files, and return to the forum after 2 days.

I tested now more than 4 times with and without Avast (normal and beta version, all free), without Avast never problem to open session, to connect via RDP, to access disk file, to access shared file, to update windows after more than 10 days without shutdown, and no problem to shutdown. With Avast, maximum time is 2 days, with low transfert in utorrent and without p2p shield installed.
Same problem with other computer

Everything seems good except for one minor flaw that the developers might want to take into consideration for the next build.  In very rare cases, running Windows XP (SP-3) the Welcome Screen hangs, and I either have to hold the power button in to turn it off.  Or sometimes holding the power button in briefly continues with the boot up.  The ratio of this occurrence I would say might be about 2 out of 20 instances.

Hi thingie  :)

It might just be best if you uninstall Avast 4.8 and then install Avast 5   ;)

1) Uninstall - Avast 4.8
2) Run the Avast Uninstall Utility From Safe Mode : http://www.avast.com/en-gb/uninstall-utility
3) Install - Avast 5 : http://www.avast.com/en-gb/download-software#tab2

If it's the Free version of Avast that you use... You just need to register again  8)
Only This Time! .. It's Really Easy!  :D
When you first open Avast 5 Free it will tell you that you are using a - 30 Day Trial!
To Keep Using Avast 5 Free...
4) Open - Avast 5
5) Click on the Register Button for - Avast 5 Free
6) Fill in the little - Pop Up Form
7) Avast will say something like... " Thank You For Registering "

Hi thingie :)

Thanks for the feedback!

Im using pro, so it should be ok.

Then If I Was You!
Think rather than having to do an - Over The Top Install  :-\
OR
Having to get your Licence Key Converted  ::)

For The Sake Of Just - 5 Days  :(
I'd stay as you are for 5 days .. Using Avast 4.8
Then...
Download the Trail of Avast 5 Pro  ;)
Test It Out!
Then register for a NEW Avast 5 Pro Key  8)

Hally

I'm a Numpty!  :-[
Just Realised...
You could do a Clean Install of Avast 5 Pro .. Today!
Coz..
1) You'll have a 30 Day Trial anyway.
2) Your only losing just 5 Days anyway.
3) You not even really losing 5 Days .. Just wait at least 5 days before you buy a New Pro Key  ;D

Where Is My Head Today?
 ::)

Oh Well!
Either wait until - 5th April ( Not 5 Days )
OR
You could do a Clean Install of Avast 5 Pro - Today! .. Use The 30 Day Trial .. Then buy a new Pro Key.

Well, back to 4.8 free again. I uninstalled 4.8 and installed 5.0.462. All went OK for 1/2 day and then the whole puter crashed. Had to hold the power button to restart. I was back paging at the time. This morning it crashed just sitting after 1 1/2 hours. I have xp sp3 and was using firefox although it wasn't running this morning. I'm fed up! I haved used avast for years and never had a problem. I have a gateway with an athalon chip and 2 gb memory. Somebody at avast better figure this out.

Went okay for 1/2 a day, then whole puter crashed

What makes you think that avast did this? avast does not make yr computer crash.

Because it only crashed with the new 5 version of avast. I first installed the the first version of 5.0 and it did it. Many others have reported the same symptoms. I don't have the tiome to keep played with this version. Just going to stay with 4.8
