Regarding web shield

Hello guys,
Here I have a problem with the web shield.
The problem is that If I turn on the web shield, I cannot access to the internet.
Does someone get the same problem with this?
The things is that If I want to go to the internet, I have to turn off the web shield.
Otherwise, nothing displayed on the web browsers(Firefox & IE).

My computer specification:
OS: Windows 7
Avast! 5.0

I have only default windows firewall, which means additional firewall is not installed.
So, nothing is blocking.
Also, I have not installed any other anti-virus software on my computer.

What is your firewall ?
Does it allow avastSvc.exe internet access ?
- If it does delete the entry for it and reconnect to the internet, this should force the firewall to ask permission again.

Have (or did) you another Anti-Virus installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?

I have the same problem. I upgraded from 4.8 to 5.0.507 and it works but sometimes I cannot browse. Then I turn off the web shield and then I can browse again...  when I turn the avast web shield on again, all my internet access just stops, when I load a site it says "unable to connect". Only if I reboot the computer does it work normally again.

I never had this problem with avast 4.8!

I use XP SP3.
