Import/Export settings for v5
« on: March 12, 2010, 12:34:10 AM »
Does anyone know if there is an effective way to copy V5 settings (free version)? I typically spend a good half-hour or more fine-tuning the settings in the new V5 (which btw the new GUI is fabulous, thank you Alwil!) I have found some posts referring to V4, but none about this possibility in V5.  Thanks in advance.   E.

there's no tool for this implemented (yet). You can save *.ini files found in the avast5 folder (in all users or program data) and restore them, at your own risk. I've done that a few times, it worked almost each time after a new install from scratch ...except once, I had to reinstall  ;)... may be avoid to restore avast5.ini, but you should be good with the others (web shield etc...)

Turn-off self-defence module and copy .ini files is how I transfer my settings to the kids' PCs.

My setting has self-defence module on.
