can't find the thread for suggestions about the forum itself... if anybody knows about, plz give link to it...

my suggestion: can't the forum be modified so that threads can include markings if a problem is already solved?

Usually the OP (Original Poster) goes back in and modifies the subject like [SOLVED] in your topic.

e.g.
http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=53696.msg455459#msg455459

yea... but i think most of the time they don't do it... so that's y i thought if the evangelists or moderators could have an option to mark it themselves... anyway... i don't really care cause i only read the threads... n rarely post anything now...

The moderators are the only ones with the ability to do this and they are also Alwil, avast developers, so to be able to mark a topic as Solved. They would have to have been actively monitoring the topic to see that is had in fact been solved.

I somehow doubt their ability to devote that kind of time to topics and not what they should be doing developing avast.

So if the OP doesn't take the time to modify his first Posts Title to include [Solved] I can't see it being done by the moderators.

There really are too many Evangelists and with a post requirement of only 300 I don't feel that all should be even allowed to do it. The forums software also doesn't permit it, so it is still down to moderators and still requires that they have followed the topic to its successful conclusion to mark it as solved.

I agree. We are so many now...

The forums software also doesn't permit it
I think it can be customized easily ???

Well it wasn't so easy when the topic came up about access to certain forums as that required group access, e.g. forum status and not by individual and this seems very similar.

Yes, you can make individual forum members moderators, thereby giving them modification status, but I doubt this can be set against a member that doesn't have moderator status. That however, is speculative/logical thinking as I don't have access to the forums software settings.

I know one thing though, I don't see the problem if a topic is marked solved or not so long as anyone viewing it later will see the solution. Also as the topic is still open others may subsequently post in it (seen in many old topics), so unless said marking also locked the topic I don't see the point.
