Hate being new to this kind of stuff.
« on: March 13, 2010, 04:27:52 PM »
I have files that Avast Internet Security 5.0 keeps deleting that are not viruses and it will not let me restore them without putting them back into the quarantine.

I have set the preferences to ASK me what to do with suspicious files and Avast STILL is not asking AND STILL quarantining them.  Very annoying.

How do I fix this.  I should be able to decide what I want Avast to do with files on my computer, I appreciate how efficient it is, but I do not like it quarantining files
that are not viruses or spam or whatever.

Any help would be most appreciated.  A little too aggressive this program is.

If you go to the virus chest.  Right click the files and select ...Submit To Virus Lab
This will pop up. in the file type drop down select False Positive fill in the remaining data and submit
Then manually update Avast and the files will be transmitted for verification

Take a look under summary/settings/exclusions.  You should be able to add them there so avast! stops monitoring them.  While they are in the virus chest, right click and submit the to the Alwil Labs as false positives.  They should show up in an updated set up virus signatures soon.
