How does Avast 5 repair infected files?

Hi everybody,

do you know how (or whether) Avast 5 can really repair infected files, since the VRDB doesn't exist any more?

It can repair some but not all infected files...
But i think it's alwil's little secret, how exactly it is done. ;)
