Making a pdf document with pictures
« on: March 14, 2010, 10:17:28 PM »
Dear Forum,

Could anyone kindly recommend a reasonable free PDF creation software programme *free of malware) which can combine scanned pictures into a PDF document?

I have several JPG images which I would like to combine on one or two pages inside a PDF document.

Until now, I have used PDF creator. However, you can't create really edit pictures and the layout of the output PDF document. All you can do is use it as a printer driver to, for example, print pages from Word or another file.

As mentioned, you cannot really edit the layout of the output file.

Please help!

Thanks,

Avastfan1

PS: I am wary of downloading free software as it may contain malware :-(

Not really sure what you're trying to do by your post. (i.e., help if you could provide a screen shot or some type of image)

What apps do you currently have? (i.e., image/photo editor, word processing)

You can edit/re-size the images with one of the free photo/image editors, then paste the image into a word processor app, to adjust layout of image(s) on the page and add text if needed, then use PDFCreator to print the doc to a PDF.  In the past when away from my PC, used Windows' Photo Editor and Paint to paste/combine more than one image on a page then used PDFCreator to print to a PDF.

There's also some free desktop publishing apps that may do what you want as layout of images on a page, then use PDFCreator to print to a PDF.

Below is a site that has a lot of good free software listed:

Thanks for the responses.

I'm trying to create a PDF document with more than one picture on the first page.

I have several JPG pictures of the beach which I would like to combine on one page. With PDF creator I can only print them separately.

I have Window$ XP, Office and Gimp.

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

Avastfan1,

See if Gimp will allow to setup a blank page that you can copy images onto the page, then use PDFCreator to print to PDF. I've done this with Adobe Photoshop Elements.

If cannot do the above with Gimp, then open the image in Gimp (or any image/photo editor), edit/re-size the image as/if needed, then copy and paste into a Word doc.  Word will also allow to re-size/format the image.  Once copied image into Word, right-click on the image and select "Format Picture ..." from the context menu.

Below I did a quick copy of a couple of images into a Word doc.  It could be used a the first page of a multiple page Word doc and printed with PDFCreator to a PDF.

BTW if you just want to simply print multiple images on one page you can use the Windows Photo Printing Wizard, just select PDFCreator as the printer to be used. See below for the Windows Photo Printing Wizard print/layout options.
