Avast 5+slow pc start-up, slow IE browsing
« on: March 19, 2010, 02:35:27 PM »
Avast 5 on my pc, has a slow start-up, which takes about 5-10 mins to load up on an average day, and also I have periodical slow IE browsing. I've updated Avast 5--to it's most recent build(update).

My pc: Dell Dimensions 2400
Intel PENTIUM 4
Mem:128 mb
HDD: 80 GB

Not sure, if I should upgrade the memory, maybe it's the reason--or not.

What OS are you running?  That certainly is a small amount of memory, but don't know how much it affects Avast!.  When you call up Windows Task Manager, what are the big CPU time users?

Hi,
What op system are you on? 128mb is not high enough, if you are running Windows Xp YOU WILL NEED A BARE MINIMUM OF 256MB OF RAM INSTALLED 512MB IS VERY GOOD OR HIGHER. Get more ram installed in the motherboard slots as Xp will be thrashing creating a huge swap file sys to try and run the computer.
YOU NEED MORE RAM!!!!
