Does Avast interfere with Skype?

I have been having some issues with Skype sound quality such as "fading, robotic, and choppiness/breaking."  Skype is in the "safe list" of Avast. But I need to know if Avast is somewhat blocking the Skype acess?  Thanks for any input

Which version of avast?
avast does not block anything (at least the antivirus), just scan.
What do you mean by "safe list"?
