They work fine for me a long as i only have Explorer and Systray open in the task Menu. I using Win98SE

This is a Windows 98SE limitation. You need to close everything (and more if you can with Process View or Process Explorer) to run a defrag or scandisk...

I use Win98se and normally just right click on the Avast Icon and hit the stop provider button. If I don't do this, Defrag will keep restarting.

As for shutdown problem, Win98/se sometimes does that to me but it will shut down about 85% of the time.

Thanks folks, but I once again have uninstalled avast. I now have installed another Virus protection program and thus far have had no problems.

AVAST is good for some people, just not however for me.

Thanks

"Technical support is available 24 hours a day / 7 days a week, by e-mail and fax for registered users of the commercial versions of AVG Anti-Virus"

You need to have the paid version to get help for avg, and then only by e-mail and fax.

There is a very small FAQ for the free version.

Just goes to show that Avast! has the best support avalible
