Are you running the latest 64-bit Windows Defender ???

What I see in About Windows Defender available in Help options:
Client Version:  6.1.7600.16385
Engine Version: 1.1.5605.0
Antispyware definitions: 1.79.1151.0

Latest definitions available from Microsoft:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/portal/Definitions/ADL.aspx

I have the same client and engine versions though my definitions are not as up to date as yours. Is the link you posted for beta definitions because if I check for updates through WD it says I'm up to date. My definitions are 1.79.953.0 dated 4/1/10. I downloaded the 64 bit update and I received an error when trying to install it. It said to check to see which version of Defender is on my PC. I'm running Windows 7 Ult 64 bit. I would think Defender would be 64 bit by default?

Duh! I feel dumb now. I should have known. Works fine when you do it the correct way. So I take it that using this method gets you the latest definitions before they are available via windows update or the WD gui.

Don't feel dumb as it took me a long time to figure out why the Antispyware definitions: never matched the definitions on the portal.

Windows Update reports:
Definition Update for Windows Defender - KB915597 (Definition 1.79.953.0)
Installation date: ‎4/‎2/‎2010 12:30 AM
