strange ff behavior since DST last night
« on: March 28, 2010, 04:26:43 PM »
hi all,
experienced some strange add-on deactivations in firefox (3.6.2) today. (not all, just some..)
yesterday all worked fine, the only difference is the time change (DST in europe) that happend last night.
could it relate 2 that? has anyone similar experiences?
or could it be something else? already scanned my system with different scanners. (seems clean..)
thanx 4 ur answers... :)

Could you be more specific? What of your add-ons were deactivated? How did you notice the deactivation?
May the FOSS be with you!

eg. cs lite was deactivated, telling me it's not compatible with this ff version, but was running flawlessly be4. it is also compatible up 2 ff3.7, as stated on the ff add-ons page... i noticed the deactivation as the related icon in the statusbar disappeared...
thanx 4 ur wisdom!

Did you follow the developer's instruction when you install cs lite?

Well cookiesafe has been discontinued, e.g. no more development, so I don't know if the same is true for cs lite. The replacement for cookiesafe is CookieMonster.

What are your Fx update settings?

Have mine set to always "Ask me what I want to do", and "Warn me if this will disable any of my add-ons".

If you have settings to automatically update without asking maybe another add-on or theme updated and now causing conflict; or could be some type of hick-up or corruption of Profile files. I always keep a current backup of my Fx profiles folder.

thanx 4 ur thoughts everyone. i got it fixed by now. :)
removed these files: extensions.ini, extensions.cache and extensions.rdf - seems smthng got messed up there... ff rebuilt them, all back 2 normal.
still, i wonder if it was related to the DST change or just pure coincidence... ???

Fairly common when extension and/or theme problems/conflicts start happening to try deleting these files and let Fx rebuild to see if will fix the problems.

Though MoFo has made great improvements in Profiles folder files stability, still subject to corruption/out-of-sync issues.  One of the reasons I keep a current backup of my Profiles folder, and periodically do a complete removal and a fresh install--especially when there's a major version update.

thanx jon_t!!! i will follow ur advice! :)

still interested if this could b cause of the time-change. (DST)
but if nobody else had this issue, it maybe was just a coincidence... ;D
