Unable to Restart Avast

I turned on my computer this morning & it is saying "Unsecured" and "that the service has been stopped or is in an inconsistent state".  I am unable to restart or fix the issues, or even run a scan.  I have turned off my computer, but still no changes...Please help me!

What is happening with the installer and the stability of the installations?
More and more users are complaining?

Could it be related to some of the vps updates, yesterday/today...
Which vps are you guys using? It's 100402-0 here.

if they have 100401-0 thats the problem. it is related to dst software update confuse with time change

A VPS update shouldn't have any impact on  restarts as it doesn't change any program functions.

That is also unlikely as according to another topic, this is related to a loop of scheduled scans and not avast Restart.

How long have you had avast 5.0 installed ?
Did it work previously?

What version of avast 5.0 have you got, 5.0.462 is the latest ?

Have you tried a repair of avast. Add Remove programs, select 'avast! Anti-Virus,' click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.

Tried that with no success.  Anyone have any other suggestions ?  I've run malware scans.  Uninstall / reinstall ??

Have (or did) you another Anti-Virus installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?
