Myriad of Issues Using Avast w/ Windows 7
« on: April 05, 2010, 11:56:19 PM »
Hey all,

I'm using Windows 7 (32 bit) and have recently updated Avast to the latest build.

Now I'm having all sorts of trouble. Avast will open, will scan - but I can't enable any realtime shields. I have tried various methods to uninstall, including the AVClear file provided by Avast - nothing works. I would really like to get this program off of my computer and either find a working version or get something else entirely.

I use the internet for work as well as leisure and I'm kinda weary about going back to business as usual without antivirus protection turned on.

Thanks for any help!!

Hi,

did you upgrade directly from Avast 4 to Avast 5 (or did you uninstall Avast 4 first and reboot before installing Avast 5 - highly recommended) ?

After a few reboots, it just magically let me uninstall/reinstall.
